An early experiment with an Ableton teaching assistant

One of my earlier practical uses of ChatGPT came from teaching Ableton Live. I put together a custom GPT for Made Academy using Ableton manuals and cheat sheets as reference material.

The idea was to give students somewhere to ask about the material in their own words. They didn’t need to know the exact technical term before starting a question. My teaching experience helped me shape what the assistant needed to be useful for.

This was support for learning the software, separate from making music. It was an early example of something I’ve returned to in other projects: an assistant becomes more useful when it has the right reference material and a clear job.
