Why I keep coming back to local AI
I’m interested in having more control over the tools I use. Exploring local AI has also made me more careful about what ‘local’ actually means.
Part of the attraction of AI for me is being able to make a system my own. I’ve explored local-model options alongside the cloud tools I use, and I’m still learning where each makes sense.
My personal assistant runs on a Raspberry Pi, but parts of the system use online providers. Hosting the assistant myself doesn’t mean every model runs on the Pi. I want this journal to keep that distinction clear as I try things and decide what is useful enough to keep.
